Workshop Highlights Energy-Saving Strategies
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) held a two-day workshop in partnership with Siemens Energy, focusing on boosting energy efficiency and reducing emissions in Egypt’s petroleum sector. The event took place from March 25 to 26, 2025, at the MoPMR headquarters in the New Administrative Capital and brought together key officials from operational, production, and energy efficiency divisions across various petroleum companies.
This collaborative workshop served as a platform for sharing technical expertise, global best practices, and innovative technologies aimed at supporting Egypt’s transition toward a more sustainable energy future. It marked an important step in the government’s broader strategy to modernize the sector while addressing environmental concerns.
Ministry Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainability
Alaa El Batal, First Undersecretary and Supervisor for HSE, Energy Efficiency, and Climate at MoPMR, delivered a keynote address highlighting the ministry’s strategic focus. He underlined the importance of improving energy performance across all petroleum sector entities and stressed the adoption of solutions that are both technically sound and economically viable.
El Batal noted that enhancing energy efficiency is not only essential for increasing productivity but also for achieving Egypt’s environmental goals, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. He emphasized the need for sustainable practices to become deeply integrated into the operations of all petroleum sector companies under the ministry’s supervision.
Siemens Energy Showcases Cutting-Edge Technologies
Representatives from Siemens Energy took the opportunity to present their latest innovations and digital tools designed to optimize energy use, manage industrial assets more effectively, and lower environmental impact. These technologies, tailored for energy-intensive industries like oil and gas, are aligned with global trends in decarbonization and industrial efficiency.
The Siemens team demonstrated how their solutions can support the Egyptian petroleum sector’s drive for operational excellence by enhancing reliability, reducing costs, and curbing emissions. Their presentation underscored the value of digital transformation in achieving long-term sustainability and competitive advantage in the energy market.
The workshop concluded with mutual agreement on the importance of continued collaboration between the public and private sectors to accelerate progress toward a cleaner, more efficient energy system.
