SOGCE 2025 to Attract Over 4,000 Global Visitors
Kota Kinabalu is set to host the 12th Sabah Oil, Gas & Energy Conference and Exhibition (SOGCE) 2025, with an estimated 4,000 participants expected from across the globe. The event, to be held on July 3 and 4 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), will welcome visitors from Malaysia and countries such as Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, the UK, the US, Italy, Libya, Ghana, Germany, South Korea, and China.
Dolly Jimayol, Chairperson of the Organising Committee, stated that this year’s expanded international presence signifies growing recognition of Sabah’s strategic potential in the global energy landscape. “SOGCE has served as a unifying platform for over a decade, showcasing Sabah’s prospects and fostering industry collaboration,” she said. Themed “Fostering Collaboration, Paving Sustainable Opportunities,” the event aligns with the Sabah state government’s broader economic development goals and vision for a sustainable energy future.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is scheduled to officiate the event, which is organised by Midas Events Management in collaboration with key partners such as the Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC), Society of Petroleum Engineers – KL Section, and Semarak Training.
Showcasing Industry Innovations Across a Global Stage
A two-day exhibition will run parallel to the conference, featuring 90 companies across a 3,000-square-metre area. This Gas & Energy Conference and Exhibition aims to highlight cutting-edge technologies and industry innovations in engineering, logistics, safety, marine services, drone technology, renewable energy, and digital transformation. Thirty-three of these companies will represent Sabah and Labuan, while others come from various regions including Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, Singapore, Thailand, Canada, and China.
According to Jimayol, the Gas & Energy Conference and Exhibition reflects the expanding range of services and solutions across the oil, gas, and energy sectors. “We see a healthy mix of returning exhibitors and newcomers, which speaks to the industry’s momentum and diversification,” she noted.
SOGCE 2025 will also introduce several new elements to enhance engagement, including Youth Engagement Programmes in partnership with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a B2B matchmaking platform, a Knowledge Hub for product presentations, Networking Cocktails, and the SOGCE Golf Tournament, which will benefit charitable causes such as the Sabah Cheshire Home.
Driving Sabah’s Energy Ambitions Through Collaboration
Prominent figures in the energy sector will headline the Gas & Energy Conference and Exhibition, including Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong of Petronas, Connor Dunn of ConocoPhillips Malaysia, Datuk Annuar Ayub of Sabah Energy Corporation, and Senator Datuk Seri Anifah Aman of Invest Sabah Berhad. They will be joined by various distinguished industry experts during panel discussions.
Jimayol emphasized that SOGCE serves as a key driver for economic progress in Sabah. “This isn’t just a networking event. It’s a catalyst for nurturing talent, sharing knowledge, and building a resilient, forward-thinking energy community,” she said. Local SMEs, oil and gas service providers, students, and the general public are encouraged to participate.
The event is supported by major sponsors, including Shell Malaysia, ConocoPhillips, Velesto Energy, Amanah Raya Berhad, PETRA Energy, Technip Energies, and several others. The organisers also acknowledged airline partners Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, along with media and hotel collaborators, for their continued support.
